Patong Beach is one of Phukets best beaches. There is nothing like a long morning walk down Patong Beach after breakfast. Patong Beach is one of Phuket islands most famous long and sandy beaches measuring 3,5 kilometres(2.2 miles) from the north end to the south end. The sea at Patong Beach is part of the Andaman Sea and is very warm (around 28 degrees and more). Patong Beach offers a wide range of water sports directly from the beach. Water sport types include Jet Skis, Parasailing, Waterskieng, windsurfing, snorkeling and of course swimming. Swimming and snorkeling enthusiasts need not be afraid to swim in the sea as the entire beach has clear areas for where sports equipment such as boats and jet skis can be and where you are only allowed to swim. At the furthermost end of the beach (northern end) the water is most clear and a perfect area for swimming and snorkeling. The rocks that I submerged at high tide are a perfect spot to observe a few of the beautiful species of tropical fish found in the Andaman Sea.
Wiki writes about Patong Beach, ” Patong Beach, with Patong Tower Condominium Patong (Thai หาดป่าตอง) refers to the beach and town on Phuket’s west coast. It is the main tourist resort in Phuket, and is the center of Phuket’s nightlife and shopping. The beach became popular with Western tourists, especially Europeans, in the late 1980s. Numerous hotels are located there and the area has expanded into a tourist Mecca…”
