Interested in Buying or Renting Property in Koh Samui, Thailand?

Move to Koh Samui and transform those rainy-day-dreams into reality

We’ve all had that same conversation, many a time; when you’re staring out of the window at the wind and the rain, feeling sorry for yourselves. “What I’d give to be on a tropical island right now. Imagine that: the sun shining over you, toes softly caressing the golden sands with a cocktail in hand.” – What if I told you that those rainy-day-dreams could become your reality? Well that is exactly what I’m telling you, so buckle in and get ready for a one way trip to paradise: Koh Samui, Thailand.

Koh Samui has long been one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, and as time has passed, many people have decided that two weeks in heaven simply isn’t enough. There is a large, growing expat community in Koh Samui and the Island has evolved suitably with this growth.

There are some die hard travellers who first ventured to Koh Samui many full-moon parties ago (when the Island was practically un-touched) who would argue that tourism has somewhat spoiled the island. However, I would argue that all you need to do is experience Koh Samui for yourself, to recognise that the island hasn’t been spoiled at all, but has merely evolved.

There is a beautiful blend of Thai culture, fused with a spluttering of Western amenities. You can find anything from Shopping Malls to traditional Thai markets, delicious a la carte restaurants and quaint street-food stalls. Everything you need to thrive and survive can be found on this incredible, paradisiacal island.

That, and there is never a shortage of things to see and do! To be fair, most people would be more than satisfied with lazing on the beach with a cold drink, bathing underneath the warmth of the sun – however, those who like to be a little more active can really get stuck in with all manner of exciting activities, such as: Kayaking, Snorkelling, Climbing, Trekking, Scootering, Fitness, Thai Kick Boxing, Jet Skiing, Paddle Boarding, Diving, 4×4 Safari touring, visiting the local Zoo, Aquarium and Butterfly world, or simply enjoying a thorough and relaxing, traditional Thai massage. Bliss!

By this point I can imagine that you’re already sold on the idea, so the next step will be to start exploring the various accommodation options on Koh Samui. Over recent years, as the island has experienced an exponential growth, a large number of real estate agencies have begun to thrive.

There is most certainly no shortage of incredible properties in Koh Samui available to rent or buy – from quaint and cosy huts on the beach, to grand villas with swimming pools and serviced apartments that boast stunning views.

Some choose to retire on Koh Samui, which if you ask me sounds like an absolute dream, but for those who aren’t fortunate to be old enough or wealthy enough to retire yet; there is plenty of work on the island. In fact, there is quite a lot of opportunity for the hard working and experienced candidate, so keep an eye out and get applying.

Visa’s and work permits can indeed be quite tricky, though navigating your way through a bit of red tape is a small price to pay when presented with an opportunity to relocate to what is arguably one of the most incredible locations on earth.
